Decking removal in Manchester, lifted and cleared in one visit
Decking that has gone green, soft or wobbly is a job nobody enjoys starting. We lift the boards, cut out the joists, take the steps and handrails, clear what has collected underneath and leave the ground ready for whatever comes next.

Why decking is a bigger job than a Saturday
Deck boards come up easy for the first metre and then fight you. Screws shear, boards split, and under it all is a frame that is usually bolted to the house or sat on concrete pads. By the time it is apart you have a garden full of splintered timber and nowhere to put it.
Getting rid of it is the harder half. A modest deck is several van loads of timber, vans need a permit at Greater Manchester recycling centres, and treated wood is restricted at some sites. That is a lot of trips in a car with the seats down.
We turn it into one visit. Every deck is priced on its own, because a small raised platform in Burnage and a wraparound deck in Didsbury are different work. Send photos on WhatsApp and we will send a fixed price back before we book you in.
What is usually under old decking
Ten years of leaves, a lost football, cat mess, weed membrane that has given up and a surprising amount of standing water. Occasionally a patio or lawn that was decked straight over and is still perfectly usable underneath.
We clear all of it. Membrane and gravel come out, debris is bagged and loaded, and the ground gets raked so you can actually see what you have. Plenty of people find they only need a jet wash rather than a new patio.
If it is soil or rubble under there and you want it levelling for turf or slabs, tell us and we will leave it as flat as we sensibly can.
Slips, rot and why people finally book it
Most decking in Manchester gardens comes out for one of three reasons. It has gone slippery and someone has nearly gone over on it, boards have rotted through and a foot has gone in, or a new patio is going down and the deck is in the way.
In a rental or an HMO it is often the landlord or letting agent calling, because a soft deck board is an accident waiting to happen. We can work to an access arrangement and send the waste transfer note over afterwards.
Whatever the reason, we do the safe bit first, getting rid of anything sharp or unstable before the rest comes apart.
Licensed disposal across Greater Manchester
Timber is separated as its own load and goes to licensed facilities, chipped for panel board or biomass. Composite decking goes to the correct stream rather than being mixed in. Metal fixings and brackets go for scrap.
We are registered with the Environment Agency as an upper tier waste carrier, licence CBDU607219. You can look it up on the public register, and we would rather you did.
You get a waste transfer note on request, which is what covers you if you are a business, landlord or agent rather than a homeowner.
