What we clear along the fence line

  • Timber fence panels, feather edge and closeboard
  • Timber and concrete posts
  • Gravel boards, capping and trellis
  • Concrete post bases dug or broken out
  • Old wire, chain link and mesh fencing
  • Bramble, ivy and overgrowth from the fence line
  • Bags of soil, rubble and offcuts left behind
  • Broken gates, hinges and metal fittings

Why fence waste is awkward to shift

A fence run does not fold up. Six panels fill a van bay on their own, and once posts and gravel boards go in it is a proper load. In a terraced street in Reddish or Heaton Chapel there is often no drive to stack it on either, so it ends up leaning in the garden.

The tip will not always help. Vans need a permit at Greater Manchester recycling centres, treated timber is restricted at some sites, and concrete posts count as a separate stream. That is three trips before you have touched the bramble.

We take the whole lot at once and price each job on its own, because ten metres of panels is different work from a full boundary with concrete bases. Send photos on WhatsApp and you will have a fixed price before we set off.

After a storm, cleared quickly

Most of our fence work comes in the couple of days after a windy night. Panels across a lawn, a post snapped at ground level, a neighbour's fence half in your garden. It is not just untidy, it is sharp and it is usually blocking access.

Because we are based in Stockport we can normally be there same or next day. We make the area safe first, get the loose timber off the ground, then take out whatever is left standing badly.

If you are waiting on an insurance job or a fencer, we can clear only what needs clearing and leave the posts you want reusing.

Getting posts and concrete out properly

The bit most people give up on is the posts. A timber post rotted at ground level snaps and leaves a stump, and a concrete post usually sits in a lump of ballast the size of a bucket. Digging those out by hand in clay soil is a long afternoon.

We bring the tools to break and lift them. Holes are backfilled or left clean depending on whether new posts are going in, and every bit of concrete goes on the van rather than being rolled under a hedge.

If a fencer is following on behind, tell us and we will leave the line ready to work on so they are not clearing before they start.

Licensed disposal and the paperwork if you need it

Timber is separated and recycled. Concrete goes to an inert stream for crushing. Metal fittings are pulled out and go for scrap. Very little of a fence load has to be written off.

We are registered with the Environment Agency as an upper tier waste carrier under licence CBDU607219, so if you are a landlord, letting agent or managing a block, a waste transfer note is available on request.

That paperwork matters more than people think. Duty of care sits with whoever produced the waste, so using a licensed carrier is what protects you if it ever turns up somewhere it should not.

Fence removal questions

Yes. Timber posts usually lift or cut out, and we can dig or break out concrete bases where the ground allows. Tell us how many and we will bring the right kit.
