Why a shed is more work than it looks
A shed does not come apart neatly once the timber has been wet for a few winters. Panels split when you lift them, the floor is usually rotten through, and half the fixings have rusted solid. Doing it yourself normally means a Saturday, a borrowed crowbar and a pile of splintered wood you still have to get rid of.
The tip is the other half of the problem. Vans need a permit at Greater Manchester recycling centres, sheet timber is restricted at some sites, and a dismantled shed is six or seven car boot loads. That is how sheds end up flat-packed against a fence for another year.

Clearing out before taking down
Nearly every shed we take away has a decade of storage in it. Half tins of fence paint, a rusted barbecue, coils of hose, bags of hardened cement, the old kids bikes. Most people would rather we sorted that than spend an evening bagging it up themselves.
So we clear it first. Anything reusable gets set aside if you want to keep it, the rest is loaded and separated at the depot end. Paint and chemicals go to the right stream rather than being tipped in with the timber.
It also makes the dismantle safer. An empty shed comes down in twenty minutes without anyone reaching over a shelf of glass jars.
Bases, slabs and what the garden looks like after
Under most Stockport sheds is either a slab base, paving, or bearers sat on soil. We can take any of them. Slabs get broken and loaded, bearers lift straight out, and the ground gets raked over so you are not left with a rectangle of rubble.
If you are putting a new shed or a summer house in the same spot, say so and we will leave the base clean and level rather than turning it over.
We sweep up afterwards too. Sawdust, screws and roofing nails all get picked up, which matters if you have kids or a dog in that garden.
