Clearing homes across the Heatons
The Heatons are full of older houses, many of them Victorian and Edwardian terraces and semis. Homes like these often have a loft and a cellar, and that's usually where the bulk of a clearance sits: boxes, old furniture and things that were put away and never brought back out. We bring it all down and out for you.
Parking in much of SK4 is on-street, so we plan the job to keep things moving and keep disruption for neighbours to a minimum. We also clear flats, including flats above shops on and around Heaton Moor Road, where stairs can be narrow and access needs a bit of thought.
This page covers the Heatons specifically. For our full service across the borough, see house clearance in Stockport.

Probate and downsizing
Many of the clearances we do in the Heatons follow a bereavement, or a move to somewhere smaller. These jobs need patience. We work from your instructions, set aside anything you want kept, and put paperwork, photos and personal items to one side as we go.
If you're an executor, or you can't be there in person, we can collect keys from a family member, solicitor or agent. Read more about our probate house clearance service.
When someone is downsizing, we take what isn't making the move, so the new home starts uncluttered and moving day is far less stressful.
Getting ready for your clearance
There's no need to bag or move anything before we arrive. That's our job. A few small things do help, though, especially in older houses where lofts and cellars can hide more than you'd think.
- Show us the loft, cellar, garage and any outbuildings in your photos, so the quote covers everything
- Mark or set aside anything you're keeping, so it's clear on the day
- Check drawers and cupboards for paperwork and small valuables if you get the chance
- Let us know about parking near the house and any steps or narrow stairs
- If you won't be there, tell us how we'll get the keys and who to call
On the day, our team works room by room, protects floors and doorways, and keeps your kept items separate. Once everything is out, we sweep through so the house is left tidy, whether it's going on the market, being handed back to a landlord, or getting ready for building work.
Reuse, recycling and our licence
We sort every load. Usable furniture and household items are set aside for reuse where possible, recyclable materials like metal, wood and cardboard are separated, and only what can't be recovered goes for disposal.
We're a licensed waste carrier, registration number CBDU607219, and you'll get a Waste Transfer Note where the job needs one, so you know your waste has been handled legally.
Prices are specific to each job. Try the instant quote calculator for a guide, or call 07563 865159.
Clearing older Heatons homes
Older houses bring their own challenges. Lofts are often reached by a hatch and a ladder, cellar steps can be steep, and staircases in terraces and converted flats tend to be narrower than in newer homes. None of that stops a clearance, but it does change how we approach it.
We look at your photos before the day so we know which rooms are the tricky ones. Bulky furniture that won't turn on a landing is dismantled rather than forced, floors and doorways are protected, and we bring loft and cellar contents out in a steady order so the hallway never becomes blocked.
With on-street parking, we aim to park as close as we safely can and load efficiently, so the van isn't sitting outside for longer than it needs to. If there are permit bays, a shared driveway or a busy road outside, let us know and we'll plan around it.
Moving or downsizing in the Heatons
Plenty of clearances happen against a date: a sale due to complete, keys going back to a landlord, or a new tenancy starting. Tell us the date you're working to when you book, and we'll fit the clearance in ahead of it.
The job doesn't have to happen all at once. Some customers want the loft and spare rooms cleared first while they're still living in the house, then the rest once they've moved. We're happy to split a clearance across visits so it works with your plans.
What we can and can't take
We take almost everything you'd find in a home:
- General household items, bags and boxes
- Furniture, beds, mattresses and sofas
- White goods like fridges, freezers and washing machines
- Garden contents, green waste and old garden furniture
- Garage and shed contents, tools and bikes
Some hazardous items, such as asbestos, chemicals and gas bottles, need checking first. If you think there's anything like that in the property, mention it when you send your photos and we'll tell you what we can do.
Why a licensed carrier matters
By law, you have a duty of care for the waste that leaves your property. That means making reasonable checks that whoever takes it away is allowed to. If waste from a clearance is fly-tipped by an unlicensed collector, it can be traced back to the householder.
We're a licensed waste carrier, registration number CBDU607219, and you can check that on the public register. Where a job needs one, you'll get a Waste Transfer Note recording what was collected and who took it, which is useful for executors and landlords to keep on file.
