Why retail waste needs handling differently
A shop generates a strange mix. Steady cardboard every week, then a sudden pile when a refit or a seasonal changeover happens. Standard bin contracts price for the steady bit and leave you stuck on the spikes.
There is a legal side too. Retail waste is commercial waste, which means household bins and the local tip are out and transfer notes are in. Small independents on Stockport parades often do not realise until a landlord or the council asks the question.
We price each shop on what it actually produces and how often. Send us a photo of the stock room or the yard on WhatsApp and we will come back with a fixed figure and a slot that lands before you open.
Refits, changeovers and closing down
The big jobs are the ones with a deadline. A refit over a weekend, a lease ending on the last day of the month, a franchise changeover where the unit has to be empty by Monday morning. That is where a normal bin collection is no use at all.
We can clear a whole unit in one or two visits, including shelving, counters, signage and any flooring or partition that came out. If the landlord wants it back as a shell, that is what we work towards.
Anything with life left in it gets pulled aside for reuse rather than crushed. Shop fittings in decent condition often find another home.
Cardboard, and how to keep your costs down
Cardboard is usually more than half the volume in a shop load and it is the cheapest thing to deal with when it is flat and dry. Left in whole boxes in a wet yard it takes up four times the space and gets priced accordingly.
So the simplest saving is a five minute habit. Break boxes down, keep them under cover, keep them away from general waste bags. We will pass that straight into what we charge.
The same goes for pallets and wrap. Kept separate they are easy streams, mixed in they drag the whole load up a grade.
Local, licensed and easy to get hold of
We are a family run Stockport team, so you are ringing the people who turn up rather than a call centre. If something changes on the day, one message sorts it.
We are registered with the Environment Agency as an upper tier waste carrier under licence CBDU607219, and it can be checked on the public register. Transfer notes come with every collection on request.
There is no long contract. Some shops have us weekly, others call when the stock room is beaten. Both are fine.
